Project Summary
 
Following Vega's global sustainability guideline, the new office and production facility in Shanghai Jiaxing is designed to achieve a LEED Gold certificate.
 
Beyond the benchmarks and measures of the LEED standard, the project includes an individualized CO2-fottprint optimization to inform decision-making at the early stages of design. Different variants were compared and evaluated using tools and nethodologies from PHI Passive House Institute and DGNB standard.
 
The integrated variant comparison across environmental, economic and socio-functional indicators not only informed the LEED certification strategy, but even more created the metrics to define an individual project "sweet spot" for energy saving and CO2 reduction measures. This included an ideal balance for the original implementation as well as creating a potential for optimization in the future by aligning construction specifications and measures to flexibly meet the upcomning CO2 low-carbon / near zero carbon and zero carbon standard for China.
