Since 2008, SoftGrid's office has been located in central Shanghai's famous Tianzifang area.
OUR tEAM
SoftGrid's international team consists of Chinese and European professionals trained in the EU and US as architects, urban planners and engineers with various individual specialties and areas of expertise within the construction industry and sustainable design practice.

Director Profile

Rolf Demmler is an architect and urban planner and graduated from the TU Darmstadt and the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow. He first worked in Germany and Switzerland before founding SoftGrid Shanghai Ltd. in China in 2008.
​
Since then, he has combined the topics of architecture, urban planning and sustainability in a holistic "General Planning PLUS" approach that understands integral planning as a synergy matrix. On this basis, he has realized numerous buildings in China, including for global clients such as Ardex, BASF, Disney and VW. Furthermore, he is active in urban development and regeneration projects throughout China.

Mr. Demmler is a qualified DGNB Auditor and PHI Passive House Planner, regularly gives presentations at professional conferences and was a guest lecturer at Tongji University Shanghai between 2013 and 2018.
